When trying to define an answer to a question, I have throughout my life tried to picture the question in terms of shapes. It may well be that a name exists for this technique but I have never really been that interested digging into it. The links above are a mix of applications where I have been given a problem such as with selfseed to devise a solution for, or doweneedit where the question is closer to home.
